Methodology

Digital media infuse our daily lives and various studies have demonstrated the advantages of using them in the classroom. For these reasons, the LIH curriculum incorporates various tools such as laptops, iPads, interactive surfaces (interactive tabletops) and coding. We combine project-based learning with digital media to equip our students with 21st century skills.

This approach has a variety of objectives:

  • To foster a responsible and civic use of digital media and to teach digital citizenship.
  • Our teachers use digital media for educational purposes. All applications and programs are selected with the greatest of care so as to complement and diversify other teaching aids.
  • Digital media are used to teach in all subject matters.
  • Our teaching is innovative. Project-based pedagogy is at the heart of our educational system which allows learners to contextualize their learning process and to build upon their knowledge.

Here are the criteria that we follow and which have established by the French Ministry of Education:

In Elementary School

In Elementary School, students’ digital skills are evaluated in the scope of the common core of knowledge, skills and culture in accordance with the dictates of the Common Report Card.

In Middle School

In Middle School, students’ digital skills are evaluated in the scope of the common core of knowledge, skills and culture in accordance with the dictates of the Common Report Card. For students in Troisième (9th grade) digital skills are evaluated in scope of earning one’s “Diplôme National de Brevet” (Middle School Certificate): The written portion of the Middle School Certificate in math, science and technology now includes a computer coding exercise.

In High School

In High School, students’ digital skills are evaluated in the scope of the “Brevet Informatique et Internet” (Computing and Internet Certificate: B2i) and its purpose is to ascertain the student’s mastery of multimedia and internet skills.

The Computing and Internet Certificate (B2i) evaluates students’ skills in various areas:

  • How to work in an evolving digital environment
  • How to be responsible
  • How to create, process, maximize and disseminate digital documents
  • How to organize one’s research
  • How to communicate, network and collaborate

Students are evaluated by teachers using real-life situations. Computing and Internet skills are acquired and are validated over the three years of High School (Level 3: B2i High School).
